CAMPUS Human rights lawyer to deliver Emory Commencement address Lawyer and human rights activist Bryan Stevenson, founder and executive director of the Montgomery, Alabama-based Equal Justice Initiative, will deliver the keynote address at Emory's 175th Commencement, scheduled for Monday, May 11. SUSTAINABILITY Annual recycling competition diverts almost 400 tons of waste from landfills Candler School of Theology/Rita Anne Rollins/Pitts Library won Emory’s 2019 recycling competition by composting and recycling over 37,000 more pounds in November 2019 than in November 2018. PARTNERSHIPS New branding unveiled for St. Francis Hospital collaboration between Emory Healthcare and LifePoint Health New signage reflecting the joint venture between Emory Healthcare and LifePoint Health was unveiled at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, on Feb. 12. Collaborations between Emory and St. Francis date back to 2003. GLOBAL Simple, no-cost method is saving infants' lives in Ethiopia Skin-to-skin contact can help low-birth-weight babies survive their first days of life. Emory has partnered with groups throughout Ethiopia to design ways to implement the practice while respecting local cultural beliefs.
