ACCOMPLISHMENT
A strong start: Emory welcomes first students in Class of 2024
On Dec. 11, 730 students were admitted to Emory College, Oxford College or both. These outstanding Early Decision I applicants join 29 students who matched to Emory through QuestBridge, which links talented low-income scholars with leading universities, to start the Class of 2024.

 

RESEARCH
Winship investigates how immune system prevents cancer from recurring
Patients with well-supported immune cells in their tumors are more likely to control their cancer's growth for a longer time. New findings could enhance cancer immunotherapy and guide treatment decisions after kidney cancer surgery.

EXPANSION
University breaks ground on innovative biomedical research facility
Emory broke ground on a state-of-the-art research facility that will focus on innovation, synergy and impact for biomedical research. Health Sciences Research Building II will be built on Haygood Drive beside its sister facility, Health Sciences Research Building I.

 

INSIGHT
'Fake News' class helps students learn to research, identify false information
Professor Judith Miller's "Fake News" class teaches first-year students how to spot biased and outright false stories. Through resources in Emory's libraries, students learn how to conduct research and find reliable sources.

RECOGNITION
Emory celebrates Gary Hauk on eve of retirement
During his 34 years of service, Gary Hauk made a climb unique in Emory annals — from student to serving as counselor to four presidents in roles ranging from secretary of the university to Emory historian.
