COLLABORATION Atlanta Falcons pledge $200,000 for cancer research The Atlanta Falcons are pledging an annual donation of $200,000 to Emory's Winship Cancer Institute to support its cancer research programs. PERSPECTIVE Iron Curtain's consequences still evident for former West Germany The border that split post-war Germany has long fascinated scholars who explored its impact on the Communist East. Emory historian Astrid Eckert's new book flips that narrative, examining the lasting consequences for what was West Germany. GROWTH Emory Johns Creek Hospital breaks ground on expansion Construction on two new floors will soon begin at EJCH. The new area, which will include 40 additional patient beds, is expected to open in April 2021. PARTNERSHIP Emory Healthcare becomes official health care provider of College Park Skyhawks The College Park Skyhawks, the new NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, have named Emory Healthcare as the official team health care provider. EMORY INSIDER   Friday is National First-Gen Day and all students, faculty and staff are invited to the Quad from 2-3 p.m. to celebrate Emory’s first-generation college students. Activities include a photo booth, button making and boards to share what you think faculty and students should know about being first-gen. First-gen students make up 11 percent of the Emory College Class of 2023.
