Emory student-athlete conquers Mount Kilimanjaro
Emory volleyball player and nursing student Maureen Schick reached new heights this summer when she climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro with her family.

Winship Cancer Institute awarded prestigious lung cancer grant
Emory's Winship Cancer Institute has been awarded a $9.7 million Specialized Program of Research Excellence grant from the National Cancer Institute to study new approaches for lung cancer treatment. It's the first grant of its kind awarded in Georgia.

White promoted to vice president for finance and treasury for Emory
Belva White has been promoted to serve as vice president for finance and treasury for Emory University, effective Sept. 1, after serving as chief business, analytics and operations officer for Emory's Goizueta Business School.

Emory College graduate wins national leadership award
Leigh Schlecht, who graduated from Emory College in May, has been honored by national leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa for her work in journalism, speech and mass media.

FUNDING
NIH awards Emory research team $3.2 million to study eye disease in Ebola survivors
The Emory Eye Center will further study vision-related issues in Ebola virus disease survivors with support from a grant from the National Institutes of Health's National Eye Institute.
