Emory awarded $1.25 million grant from Mellon Foundation for undergraduate humanities education
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded Emory a $1.25 million grant to support the Humanities Pathways initiative, designed to better prepare students to convert their academic pursuits into meaningful professional opportunities in a rapidly changing world.

 

RESEARCH
Machine learning used to understand and predict dynamics of worm behavior
Biophysicists have used an automated method to model a living system — the dynamics of a worm responding to a stimulus. Dubbed "Sir Isaac" after Isaac Newton, the algorithm makes accurate predictions about the dynamics of worm behavior.

Leading Chinese translator of 'The Letters of Samuel Beckett' comes to Emory
Bo Cao, an English professor at Hunan Normal University in China, will be in residence at Emory this year as he translates influential Irish writer Samuel Beckett's letters for Chinese readers.

Emory Global Health Institute marks 10th anniversary of annual case competition
The Emory Global Health Institute recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its annual International Emory Global Health Case Competition by hosting 30 university teams charged with developing hurricane preparedness strategies for multiple countries.
