Pecou explores art as resistance in new Emory exhibition
Acclaimed artist Fahamu Pecou, who earned his PhD at Emory, examines contemporary blackness through the lens of African spirituality in "DO or DIE," a new exhibition now open at the Michael C. Carlos Museum.

 

HONORS
Biologist recognized for commitment to mentoring
The journal Nature is honoring Emory biologist Anita Corbett with an award for Mentoring in Science. Corbett is currently director of Emory's Initiative to Maximize Student Development, which seeks to nurture young scientists and increase the diversity of the scientific workforce.

Racial disparities in asthma related to health care access, environmental factors
Racial disparities in asthma can largely be explained by looking at socioeconomic and environmental factors, such as access to health care, a nationwide analysis shows.

Creativity & Arts Awards honor Emory, community leaders
On Thursday, Schwartz Center for Performing Arts hosts Emory's annual Creativity & Arts Awards, presented to those who support inclusion and innovation in the arts. This year's honorees include Emory alum Doug Shipman, president and CEO of the Woodruff Arts Center.
