Emory ranked among America's Best Employers for Women by Forbes
Emory University is one of the nation's best employers for women, according to new rankings released by Forbes magazine. Emory ranked highest among the Atlanta-based companies on the list.

Black educators played hidden, key role in school desegregation
Emory professor Vanessa Siddle Walker's new book, "The Lost Education of Horace Tate," explores the hidden history of African American educators working to end the system of segregated schools.

 

HEALTH
Marcus Foundation $13M grant targets osteoarthritis with stem cell therapies
The Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center, in partnership with Sanford Health, Duke University, Andrews Institute and Georgia Institute of Technology, received a $13 million grant from The Marcus Foundation for a multicenter clinical trial studying various stem cell options to treat osteoarthritis.

 

INNOVATION
Templeton World Charity awards $550,000 to global STEM initiative
The Templeton World Charity Foundation awarded $550,000 to Emory mathematician Ken Ono for a global program to identify and nurture gifted students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.

 

LEADERSHIP
Emory, other universities submit amicus brief to U.S. Supreme Court in support of affirmative action
Emory and 14 other universities filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court on Aug. 1 regarding two cases pertaining to affirmative action. The brief explains how a diverse student body strengthens the educational experience for all students.
