RESEARCH All in the mind: Examining why the brain short-circuits Through an unexpected discovery, Emory scientists working in David Katz's lab gain a new understanding of the pathology behind Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. EVENTS President of Tibetan government-in-exile to deliver Berman Lecture Sikyong Lobsang Sangay, president of the Tibetan government-in-exile, will deliver the 2018 Berman Lecture on April 9 at Emory University School of Law. He will speak on "The Tibetan People's Transition to Secular Democracy." INSIGHT RespectCon 2018 focuses on sexual violence prevention, social justice Student activist Venkayla Haynes will be the keynote for this year's RespectCon, a national conference hosted by Emory focused on social justice and sexual assault prevention on college campuses. COMMUNITY Campus memorial service to honor former Emory Provost Billy Frye A campus memorial service to celebrate the life of Billy E. Frye, Emory's first provost, will be held Saturday, April 14, at 1 p.m. in Cannon Chapel. FOR FUN The Peeps experiments: A seasonal celebration of science Douglas Mulford, senior lecturer and director of undergraduate studies for the Department of Chemistry, treats his students every spring to a "Peeps" show, a 45-minute experiment of every chemical thing that you can do to Peeps. THINGS TO DO April arts events include innovative dance, music performances Arts at Emory celebrates warmer spring weather with lively events including performances from world-class visiting artists Trisha Brown Dance Company and electronic music composer Sam Pluta with trumpet virtuoso Peter Evans.
