IMPACT Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor visits Emory Law In a conversation with Emory constitutional law scholar Fred Smith Jr., Sonia Sotomayor, associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, reflected on her personal experiences and how the crux of law is "about helping people." INSIGHT Twitter reveals how future-thinking Americans are and how that affects their decisions Individuals who tend to think further into the future are more likely to invest money and to avoid risks, finds a new paper by Emory psychologists Phillip Wolff and Robert Thorstad. TEACHING Atlanta Hawks, Falcons and Braves talk survey analysis with students Michael Lewis, associate professor of marketing at Goizueta Business School, brought in representatives from the Atlanta Falcons, Braves and Hawks to speak with his Sports Marketing Analytics class as they create a survey on Atlanta sports. RESEARCH Emory researchers win Distinguished Investigator grants for mental health projects Three Emory professors are among just 17 researchers around the country to receive Distinguished Investigator grants from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, the most of any university. HONORS Georgia Bio selects Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance for Deal of the Year Award Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance will receive the 2018 Deal of the Year Award from Georgia Bio. The alliance includes Emory, Morehouse School of Medicine, Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Georgia.
