Video: Reflecting on Juneteenth
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that enslaved people were now free and the war was over. As Emory joins the nation in commemorating Juneteenth, community members reflect on the importance of the holiday.

 

SPORTS
Emory finishes ninth in final LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings
The Emory Eagles finished ninth out of 327 Division III programs that earned Directors’ Cup points during the 2021-2022 athletic seasons. It is the 19th top-10 finish out of the last 20 Directors’ Cup standings.

 

RESEARCH
Analysis shows urgent need for improved research and practice related to women and WASH
A new Rollins-led review article is the most comprehensive synthesis to date of current evidence on water and sanitation and women’s and girls’ empowerment. It shows WASH programming is critical in developing effective public health initiatives globally.

Two Emory researchers honored with 2022 Health Care Heroes awards
The Atlanta Business Chronicle has selected two Emory researchers as winners of its 2022 Health Care Heroes awards: Roxana Chicas of the School of Nursing and Nadine Rouphael of the School of Medicine and the Hope Clinic.

COMMUNITY
COVID-19: Reflections from the Emory Outbreak Response Team
The students of Emory's Outbreak Response Team have helped administer COVID-19 tests and vaccinations throughout Georgia. Four students joined team leader Jodie Guest to reflect on how the experience enhanced their understanding of public health outreach.
