Laney Graduate School
An unexpected knack for mentoring forges connections on campus and beyond
As Camille Goldmon graduates with her PhD in history, she leaves a mark on Emory and the community as a groundbreaking researcher, engaging teacher and impactful mentor. Her dissertation examines the Tuskegee Institute's crucial role in the livelihood of Black agrarians.

OXFORD COLLEGE
Learning the meaning — and value — of servant leadership
As Anya Kasubhai graduates from Oxford College, she is grateful for lessons learned as a student and a leader, and the bonds she’s forged with those who have contributed to her successes.

BUSINESS
Podcasting, COVID-19 fundraising and bringing creativity to business strategy
Social impact classes that prioritize stakeholders over shareholders and people over profits made impressions on Ben Feinstein that he intends to carry into his business career — and pass along to others.

MEDICINE
Translating lessons from Hurricane Maria to medical school
Seeing the effects of Hurricane Maria firsthand influenced Natalia Calzada Jorge’s decision to pursue medical school. Now she’ll combine lessons from that experience with her time at Emory to better serve patients.

Improving the environment in her own good nature(d) way

NURSING
Persevering though a natural disaster and the pandemic
Jovaan Velez knew from an early age that he would work in health care. After weathering Hurricane Maria and navigating nursing school during COVID-19, he’s ready to step into his role as patient advocate.

THEOLOGY
Helping others thrive at the intersection of spirit and body
Allie Williams once planned to be a doctor, but instead decided to explore the intersections of health and faith. Her studies and community work at Candler School of Theology showed her new ways to integrate spiritual and physical wellness.

LAW
Leaving coding behind to focus on frontiers of global finance
Tejas Dave left high-level finance and coding for quantitative analysis behind when he arrived at Emory Law. Now he’s shifting his problem-solving focus to the frontiers of global finance.
