Renovated identity spaces unveiled on Emory’s Atlanta campus
A ribbon cutting and open house on Sept. 8 marked the reopening of updated identity spaces for the Emory Black Student Union, Office of LGBT Life, Centro Latinx and the Center for Women, plus a new center for Asian Pacific Islander Desi/American students.

The new Asian Student Center on Emory’s Atlanta campus provides a place for students to explore their own cultures and backgrounds, become involved with advocacy and activism or simply hang out with friends.

Southern Company Foundation funds new Center for Civil Rights and Social Justice at Emory Law
Emory has received a transformative grant from Southern Company Foundation to establish the Emory University School of Law Center for Civil Rights and Social Justice and support other student success and access initiatives through Emory College and Winship Cancer Center.

Emory partners with Atlanta mayor’s office to provide COVID-19 vaccines in Piedmont Park
When the Atlanta mayor’s office partnered with event promoter Live Nation to offer free passes to Music Midtown for anyone who got a COVID-19 vaccine at a pop-up clinic, they turned to Emory’s Outbreak Response Team for help.

Students hope to foster greater sense of belonging at symposium on slavery and dispossession
“In the Wake of Slavery and Dispossession,” set for Sept. 29-Oct. 1, will feature student-led discussions, performances and art exhibits, as well as presentations by renowned scholars and community members.

Emory receives record funding for research with $894 million in last year
Emory University received $894.7 million in fiscal year 2021 for tackling the challenges of our time. Investigators won grants for research on COVID-19, brain health, climate change, health disparities, racial and social justice, and much more.

Students, faculty and staff on Emory’s Atlanta campus this fall can take a vicarious trip to the moon with the Apollo 15 exhibit on Level 3 of the Robert W. Woodruff Library.

Emory physicists show 'how low you can go' with Leidenfrost effect
A new technique probes a phenomenon important to a range of industrial and natural processes. Graduate student Dana Harvey used it to explain the robustness of vapor layers that make water drops levitate over a superheated surface.
