Emory’s dance program keeps moving through the pandemic’s challenges
During a year when so many activities were canceled, Emory’s dance students and faculty found ways to continue in-person classes and performances — including the annual spring concert set for April 29 to May 1.

Four Emory undergrads win Goldwater Scholarship for math, science research
For the third consecutive year, Emory had four exceptional students selected for the nation’s top scholarship for undergraduates studying math, natural sciences and engineering.

 

RESEARCH
Chemists develop tools that may help improve cancer diagnostics, therapeutics
A new chemical method developed by researchers at Emory and Auburn can detect changes in proteins that may signal the early stages of cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and other major diseases. Emory PhD student Ogonna Nwajiobi is first author of the paper.

 

RECOGNITION
Recent graduate receives Soros Fellowship for New Americans
Elliot Shuwei Ji is one of 30 Soros Fellows for 2021. The award is given to outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants and helps support graduate study at any U.S. university.

Dooley’s Week, Emory’s annual celebration of school spirit, was held April 5-11, giving a nod to icons from childhood in the 2000s. “Dooley2k” was packed with in-person and online events ranging from painting and indoor mini-golf to a virtual yoga session and mechanical bull riding.
