CAMPUS Dr. Anthony Fauci to deliver Emory Commencement address Dr. Anthony Fauci will deliver the 2021 Commencement address for Emory College of Arts and Sciences and receive the Emory University President’s Medal. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he will give his remarks virtually. ACCOMPLISHMENT Two recent Emory graduates selected for prestigious Luce Scholars Program Emory College alums Zach Denton and Yaza Sarieh will embark on a year of immersive study in Asia, thanks to being named part of the 2021-2022 class of Luce Scholars. CONNECTIONS The Roberto C. Goizueta Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation launches to global community A new center led by Goizueta Business School will help develop students into the entrepreneurs and innovators of tomorrow. The work was funded by a gift from The Goizueta Foundation and includes partners such as The Hatchery (shown), an Emory Center for Innovation. INVOLVEMENT Dowe named to Kamala Harris Project’s advisory board Pearl Dowe, Asa Griggs Candler Professor of African American Studies and Political Science, has been selected as a member of the inaugural advisory board of the Kamala Harris Project. PERSPECTIVES Watch Monday's Faculty Showcase featuring conversations between Jericho Brown and new faculty across campus In this interactive event, Pulitzer Prize-winning professor Jericho Brown read and discussed nine of his poems with new faculty members from each of Emory’s schools and colleges. Replay their conversations, which ranged from sharing childhood stories to living during a pandemic.

RESEARCH NEWS   COLLABORATION Emory, Curry College examine role of COVID-19 antibodies on reinfection Public health researchers from Curry College in Massachusetts have partnered with Emory to conduct a new study on Curry’s campus to examine the role of antibodies and virus infection in the college community. SUPPORT Emory rises in rankings of federal research funding Emory University received more federal research dollars from the National Institutes of Health than ever before and continued to climb in an independent ranking of peer institutions. DISCOVERY Study finds increased COVID-19 mortality among adults with Down syndrome Emory researchers, in an international collaboration with the Trisomy 21 Research Society, have found increased COVID-19 mortality among those with Down syndrome compared to the general population.
