Ancient DNA lab maps little-explored human lineages
In Emory’s new ancient DNA lab, students – including Rosseirys “Ro” De La Rosa, Yemko Pryor and Amanda Owings – are working with anthropologist John Lindo to map genetic lineages of the deep past to better understand modern-day populations of the Americas.

Eléonore Raoul, the first woman admitted to Emory and a graduate of Emory School of Law, played an important role in fighting for women’s voting rights. Emory marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment with programs on Oct. 8 and Oct. 22.

Whether on campus or off, all Emory students can now gain support through Emory Student Telehealth, which provides free, 24/7 access to licensed medical and mental health professionals.

Catholic theologian Shawn Copeland to give Candler’s McDonald Lectures
As holder of the McDonald Chair, Shawn Copeland will present public lectures on Oct. 14 and during spring semester. She is recognized as one of the most important influences in North America in drawing attention to issues surrounding African American Catholics.

Scott Lilienfeld remembered for advancing psychology while embodying kindness
Scott Lilienfeld, Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Psychology at Emory, passed away Sept. 30. As colleagues and students share, he was a “master teacher” as well as a recognized authority on pseudoscience in psychology and a preeminent scholar of psychopathy.

ACHIEVEMENT
Emory student receives fellowship grant for humanities work
Emory junior Annie Li has received a fellowship grant for her work on the university’s Stories from the Pandemic website. The site collects and publishes stories about experiences related to COVID-19.
