Emory, state of Georgia collaborate on COVID-19 response
Rollins School of Public Health and the state of Georgia will embark on a new partnership to increase public health resources to combat the COVID-19 crisis, including placing public health professionals throughout the state.

 

COMMITMENT
Emory leaders speak out on Juneteenth, systemic racism
Emory will have early release June 19 so students, faculty and staff can spend a portion of the day exploring issues that challenge our shared understanding of history. Online Emory events include "Observing Juneteenth: The Long Arc of Justice" on Thursday and “Juneteenth – Giving Voice” on Friday.

 

PERSPECTIVES
Study seeks data to help students flourish during pandemic
Emory is one of five universities across the country collaborating on a study focused on narratives written by first-year college students from last fall about their experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

RECOGNITION
Emory College grad honored with national leadership award
Katelyn Boisvert, a Woodruff Scholar who graduated in May, has been named Omicron Delta Kappa’s National Leader of the Year. She is the second Emory student in three years to win the leadership honor society’s top award.

 

STUDY
COVID-19 exposes health inequities, need for more inclusive research
As evidence mounts that COVID-19 disproportionately claims the lives of people from minority communities, particularly African Americans, researchers say it is time to correct the traditional underrepresentation of these groups in research studies.

 

SCIENCE
Emory-led consortium explores brain and behavior, across the tree of life
The Simons Foundation awarded Emory scientists and their collaborators $2.5 million to develop new tools to study how the brain controls behavior in vertebrates. The consortium kicks off with a virtual symposium on Friday, June 26.

RESEARCH
COVID-19 research: Emory’s work spans the gamut, from bench to bedside
Within weeks after the pandemic began, researchers across a wide variety of disciplines at Emory University mobilized their resources and expertise to address various dimensions of COVID-19.
