COMMUNITY
Students create campus mural to celebrate Atlanta
More than a dozen student artists, with majors ranging from business to biology, came together to create the vibrant tribute to Atlanta that fills the wall outside of Cox Hall. Find out the story behind this campus landmark.

PERSPECTIVES
Provost Lecture Series brings innovative voices to campus
This year's Provost Lecture Series brings three women with powerful voices to the Emory campus to speak on topics ranging from music's ability to move us toward greater justice to gendered conversational styles to improving the American health system. The Oct. 3 program with Meshell Ndegeocello is sold out, but can be viewed live online.

ACHIEVEMENT
Emory ranks #1 in Teach For America recruits
Emory University has been ranked the top university of its size contributing the greatest number of graduating seniors to the 2019 Teach For America corps.

INSIGHT
President Carter on politics, peace and peanut butter
For 38 years, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has joined first-year Emory students for the annual Carter Town Hall, a spirited, surprisingly candid exchange that offers firsthand lessons in life, leadership and governance gleaned across a lifetime of public service.

RECOGNITION
Emory professors, alumna honored for recent books
Professor Jericho Brown's collection "The Tradition" is among 10 volumes longlisted for the National Book Award for poetry, joining honors for books by alumna Tressie McMillan Cottom and Emory professors Vanessa Siddle Walker, Lisa Dillman and Eric. L. Goldstein.

COLLABORATION
Emory Healthcare and Atlanta Falcons break ground on new clinic and research center
Expected to open in fall 2020, the Emory Orthopaedics and Spine Center at Flowery Branch will provide a new location for patients, while also being an access point for Falcons who may need diagnostic imaging or to be seen by a sports medicine expert.

ARTS
Emory Dance Program presents world premiere of 'fence' by staibdance
The seed for "fence," which runs Oct. 3-6, comes from Emory dance faculty George Staib's memory of a life-changing event during his childhood in Iran — the murder of two classmates at the Tehran American School where he studied.
