IMPACT Stepping up Wherever they live, whatever their profession, Emory alumni share a common pursuit: service to their communities. Meet seven Emory alumni who have built upon a foundation they say was strengthened on Emory's campus — to not only do well but to do good in the world. CREATIVITY Student helps direct professional cast in new Theater Emory production Theater Emory's new offering "The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity" features a special role for Jessica Le-Mckeown: The Emory College sophomore serves as the associate director, making her the only student in the rehearsal room with the professional cast. SUSTAINABILITY New PATH trail expands access, options for Emory commuters The final section of the South Peachtree Creek Trail is now open, linking Emory's Clairmont Campus with nearby parks and neighborhoods. From there, pedestrians and cyclists can continue along traffic-restricted Starvine Way onto Emory's main campus. CAMPUS Halloween at Emory brings zombies, mummies and more A variety of events over the next week bring on the spooky spirit of Halloween at Emory, giving everyone more than a ghost of a chance to have fun and participate in interesting activities. RESEARCH Grant will help bring Emory's innovative student biology labs to other colleges The National Science Foundation awarded a $1.47 million grant to Emory and Morehouse professors for the Bean Beetle Microbiome Project, which will expand one of Emory's signature undergraduate research experiences to colleges across the country. COLLABORATION Global Health Institute launches Refugee and Immigrant Health and Wellness Alliance of Atlanta The Emory Global Health Institute, along with local partners, has established the Refugee and Immigrant Health and Wellness Alliance of Atlanta, which seeks to improve the health and social services available to Atlanta's refugee and immigrant communities. EVENTS Atlanta Jewish Film Festival partners with Emory for campus screenings The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival On Campus returns Oct. 28-30, bringing cutting-edge international films, documentaries and discussions. The festival features five films selected to relate to Emory College course topics.
