Two Emory College graduates awarded NSF Graduate Fellowships
The National Science Foundation has awarded coveted Graduate Research Fellowships to Tristan Yates and Liz O'Gorman, who just graduated from Emory College with honors with degrees in neuroscience and behavioral biology.

 

HONORS
Emory student earns Udall Scholarship for effective environmental advocacy
Zola Berger-Schmitz, a rising senior with nearly a decade of experience as an environmental advocate, has been named a 2018 Udall Scholar. Co-president of the Emory Climate Organization, she also co-founded Universities for a Greener Georgia.

 

RESEARCH
Student researchers use library archives to reveal the Buddhist in the Beats
Students in an Emory undergraduate religion class used the archives of the Rose Library to create a pop-up exhibition on how Buddhism influenced the art and lives of members of the Beat literary movement.

IMPACT
Postcards from the frontlines of the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service
Many students from Emory's Rollins School of Public Health have gone on to join the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service as officers, the agency's elite disease detectives. Learn about their most interesting cases and where they are now.

 

CREATIVITY
Chemistry students sing their studies, hoping for a good reaction
As part of a Bill Wuest's "Principles of Reactivity" course, chemistry students performed key lessons they learned over the course of the semester in a musical parody video assignment. Wuest has compared exam performance before and after the video assignment and found a strong correlation with improved scores.

Georgia Climate Research Roadmap identifies state's top 40 climate research questions
A multi-disciplinary team of experts has developed the Georgia Climate Research Roadmap, a first-of-its-kind list of 40 key research questions to help policymakers and practitioners better understand and address climate change across the state.

Campus participation in new waste policy spurs results
With strong community participation, Emory's new waste diversion policy is already making an impact, diverting nearly 70 percent of total campus waste from landfills in March alone.
