ACHIEVEMENT Emory names 2018 Bobby Jones Scholars for study in Scotland Emory College students Carli Kovel, Wei Wei Chen, Jason Sell and Leah Neiman will spend a year studying at the University of St Andrews as part of the prestigious Robert T. Jones Jr. Scholarship. INSIGHT 'The Enlightened Gene' captures Emory-Tibet Science Initiative's integration of science, faith In their new co-written book, Emory professor Arri Eisen and Tibetan monk Geshe Yungdrung Konchok explore how insights from scientists and monastics enrich understandings of biology, physics and other sciences. DISCUSSION Public dialogue will explore 'Black and Latinx Solidarity' Emory's James Weldon Johnson Institute hosts 'Black and Latinx Solidarity' on Feb. 22 to discuss black and Latino/Latina political relations amid a resurgence of white nationalism. RESOURCES Goizueta launches 'Entrepreneurs-in-Residence' program Goizueta Business School has launched Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, designed to offer students real-life experience with people who have done what they're studying to do. The entrepreneurs will advise BBA and MBA students looking to start their own companies. COMMUNITY Emory global health case competition tackles refugee health in Atlanta Twelve student teams addressed the health challenges of one of Atlanta's most vulnerable populations during the 2018 Intramural Emory Global Health Case Competition, proposing strategies to improve the health and well-being of the city's refugee communities. HEALTH Emory emergency medicine providers lead flu response at Grady Health care providers in Emory School of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine have led a robust response to the surge in influenza patients at Grady Memorial Hospital, using specialized trailers that have extended Grady's busy emergency department. IN CLASS Students turn curators for Carlos Museum exhibit A new exhibit at the Michael C. Carlos Museum unites artwork and classwork in a hands-on way, allowing Emory students to curate a first-of-its-kind show about the Ramayana in Indian painting.
