Spring semester brings new programs, events across Emory's nine schools
The nine schools that make up Emory University have big plans for the new semester, as they welcome new faculty, debut new courses and host a diverse slate of speakers, programs and conferences.

 

INSIGHT
'Conversations with America' town hall to examine opioid addiction
As part of the ongoing "Conversations with America" series, Emory will host a campus discussion Jan. 24 focused on America's opioid crisis. Led by renowned pollster Peter D. Hart, the event will feature experts on addiction and drug trafficking.

 

ACHIEVEMENT
Emory medical residents complete a successful Fellowship Match
Emory's medical residents are moving ahead in their careers after the Internal Medicine Fellowship Match. Fourteen will complete their fellowships at Emory, where they will receive state-of-the-art training, while others move on to top-ranked programs across the country.

 

RESEARCH
Study shows link between attending religious services, health and longevity
Researchers from the Emory Rollins School of Public Health have published a paper in PLOS ONE that links regular attendance at religious services with improved health and lowered mortality.

COLLABORATION
A stroke of genius: Math and computer science teams with athletes for swim study
Emory mathematician Ken Ono is launching an analytical study of training methods for elite swimmers -- a joint effort between Emory Athletics and the university's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
