Future in Focus: State of WHSC 2019

Thanks to those of you who were able to attend the annual State of the Woodruff Health Sciences (WHSC) address—whether you joined us in person or by webcast. If you couldn’t make it, I hope you’ll view the video online.

This past year has been characterized by so many superlatives (best, largest, only) that I couldn’t possibly cover them all. It was truly one for the history books—a time of extraordinary opportunity and achievement. Our future is very clearly in focus, guided by our WHSC and Emory Healthcare strategic plans and by a clear purpose that transcends all units, disciplines, and professions: improving lives and providing hope.

As I prepare to wrap up my fourth year at Emory, I continue to be impressed at every turn by the creativity, resourcefulness, talent, and passion of our faculty and staff. Each of you—no matter what your job—helps to propel WHSC forward and advance our education, research, patient care, and public service missions.

We have a strategic plan in place to guide our decisions. We’re an essential part of a world-class university. We serve a wonderful, diverse, and engaged community. And we have phenomenal team members who are deeply committed to the people we serve. Our future is in focus—and I feel great about it. I hope you do too!
