I know we’re all facing a great deal of uncertainty right now. We’ve seen previously unimaginable disruptions across all our missions—changes in schedules and practices that are virtually unprecedented in Emory’s history. In spite of these challenges, our Woodruff Health Sciences Center teams are showing incredible adaptability and are working hard to keep our education, research, and patient care missions on track as much as possible. I’m proud of your response to this historic and life-changing event. Your resilience is an inspiration.
I especially want to acknowledge the valiant efforts of the entire Emory Healthcare team. With limited resources and limited experience dealing with this novel virus, they are facing what may be the most difficult experience of their professional lives. Their work is more physically and emotionally taxing than ever before, but they never waver in their commitment. I’m humbled by them all, and I hope you’ll take the time to thank our health care colleagues for their incredible efforts.
We’re living through unsettling times, and we face a tough road ahead. But to paraphrase an old saying, tough times don’t last, but dedicated people do. Whether you’re serving on the front lines of patient care, fulfilling other essential job functions, or supporting our missions to the best of your ability from home, we remain united in service to those who depend on us and to each other. We will come through this together.
Be safe and be well,
Jon
