Emory University and East Lake Golf Club will co-host the second annual Bobby Jones Legacy Golf Tournament on March 24.

Organized by Emory’s James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies, the Bobby Jones Legacy Golf Tournament is a fundraiser that celebrates the legacy of legendary golfer Bobby Jones, who remains known as the most successful amateur golfer in the history of the sport, in particular for taking the Grand Slam title in 1930 after winning the four major championships of his time in a single calendar year. Jones entered Emory University School of Law in 1926 and passed the bar exam after just a few semesters.

Tournament proceeds benefit the Bobby Jones Program at Emory, which includes an exchange program for scholars and fellows, an ethics program that prepares graduate students for responsible leadership, and fellowships in biomedical engineering that advance the future of health care.

This year’s participants will enjoy a VIP reception on the evening before the tournament at Emory’s Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library. Tournament participants also will enjoy lunch at the clubhouse prior to tee-off and can participate in a golf clinic with members of the Emory Golf Team. Following play, guests and players are invited to unwind with cocktails before concluding the day with a spring reception.

Emory and East Lake Golf Club are natural partners for this event. East Lake Golf Club is the home course of Bobby Jones and is the oldest golf course in the city of Atlanta. Since 2004, it has also been the home of the TOUR Championship. With a long tradition of philanthropy, East Lake Golf Club is an important member of the Atlanta community, supporting the East Lake Foundation with more than $20 million to date, and partnering with local institutions such as Emory to support transformative research and scholarship.
