Emory students take 'Day On' for MLK Jr.

Hundreds of Emory students joined in a "Day On" instead of a day off for Monday's holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Organized by Volunteer Emory, part of the Office of Student Leadership and Service, the event brought students together Jan. 18 to volunteer for 15 diverse community organizations.

After gathering in the Dobbs University Center for checking in, pastries and welcoming remarks, students boarded Emory buses and headed out to help with tasks ranging from painting and landscaping to making cards for shelters and hospitals.

Emory events celebrating King's life and legacy continue through Jan. 26 on the Atlanta and Oxford campuses. See the full schedule.
