Time to renew parking permits for faculty, staff

Online parking registration for the upcoming academic year begins on Fri., Aug. 1, for faculty and staff. Annual permits are valid from Aug. 15, 2014, through Aug. 14, 2015.

The new rate of $665 for unlimited use in an assigned deck is the first pricing increase since 2011-2012 and "equalizes employee and student pricing," according to Alice P. Sloan, communications director for Emory Transportation and Parking Services.

Two permit options are available:

  • Annual faculty/staff permit for unlimited use in an assigned deck: This permit costs $665 annually or $55.42/month and is paid by automatic payroll deduction.
  • Eagle Occasional Use permit for 20 swipes in an assigned deck: The permit costs $100 and can be reloaded as needed. "The last price increase for this permit occurred in 2010-2011," Sloan says.

To purchase either permit, University staff and faculty can log in to https://myaccount.parking.emory.edu. Permits purchased online must be billed as an automatic payroll deduction. Permits obtained at the Parking office may be purchased with cash, personal checks or accepted credit/debit cards.

Parking permits are also available for employees who register for any of the Commute Alternative programs (CAP), including carpool, vanpool, bicycle, walk, drop-off and public transit.

The cost of a permit for each participant in a two-person carpool is only $332.50, or $27.71/month. Permits are free for participants in a three-or-more-person carpool or a vanpool.

Employees who register as CAP participants at http://transportation.emory.edu/commute receive an Eagle Occasional Use permit preloaded with 20 free parking deck swipes; the permit can be reloaded at $100 for 20 swipes.

"To expedite registration, Transportation and Parking Services staff strongly recommends that you verify your parking account information, update your vehicle information, and pay any outstanding fines before registering,” Sloan says.

This can be done via https://myaccount.parking.emory.edu. Permits cannot be purchased until all outstanding fines and fees are paid.
