Emory and Georgia Tech to inaugurate biomedical lecture

The first biennial Academy of Medicine Distinguished Lecture from the

Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering of Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology will be Thursday, May 1, at 4 p.m.

The event will be held at Georgia Tech's Historical Academy of Medicine building, 875 West Peachtree St. A reception will follow.

This year’s distinguished speaker will be Jeffrey A. Hubbell, director of the Institute for Biomedical Engineering of the University of Zurich and the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule, which is the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. 

Hubbell’s lab research focuses on the biomaterials issues in tissue engineering, cell-based therapies, drug delivery, and medical devices. Clinically, he is currently researching cardiovascular implants and healing, nerve regeneration and post-surgical healing.
