Honors for Nell-DybDahl, Scarborough and Young

Christine Nell-DybDahl received the 2013 Life Changer Award from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).  

Nell-Dybdahl is the clinical nurse director of the Emory Center for Heart Disease Prevention (ECHDP), a member of Emory Women’s Heart Program, and founder and clinical director of the Emory Women Living with Angina Support Group.

The award, presented in partnership by AANP and Health Monitor Network, recognizes and honors outstanding service to patients and community care by nurse practitioners. Nell-Dybdahl was nominated by two of her patients at ECHDP.

Chris Scarborough was awarded an American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund grant.

Scarborough is assistant professor of chemistry.

The grant is from the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund, which is not affiliated with the American Petroleum Institute. The grant's funding $100,000 over two years is part of the Society's  "Divisional New Investigator" program. It is meant as seed funding for faculty in their first three years of appointment. Scarborough is  finishing his second year.

Kevin Young is on the shortlist for the PEN Open Book Award for his book, "The Grey Album."

Young is Atticus Haygood Professor of English and Creative Writing and curator of Literary Collections and Raymond Danowski Poetry Library, part of the Manuscript, Archives, & Rare Book Library.

The $5,000 award is presented for an exceptional book-length work of literature by an author of color published in 2012.  The PEN American Center is the largest branch of the world’s leading literary and human rights organization and presents the annual PEN Literary Awards.
