Flannery O'Connor, Freud to be discussed at Emory

WHAT

Emory University's Aquinas Center of Theology will host a public lecture titled "Flannery O'Connor and Freud, the Meaning of Life in Death," sponsored by the Flannery O'Connor Trust.

WHO

The lecture will be given by William Sessions, Regents' Professor of English Emeritus at Georgia State University. Sessions has written and lectured extensively on the literary, cultural and religious significance of Flannery O'Connor's works. He is expected to publish an authorized biography of Flannery O'Connor.

ABOUT THE FLANNERY O'CONNOR LECTURES

Sponsored by the Flannery O'Connor Trust and hosted by the Aquinas Center of Theology at Emory University's Candler School of Theology, the series is being held at Emory from 2012 to 2014. The lectures focus on: the significance of Flannery O'Connor as one of the preeminent literary figures of the 20th century; the importance of the religious dimension in O'Connor's life and writings; and the impact that O'Connor's writings continue to have on 21st century literature, culture and religion
