Homecoming Weekend features inspired tradition

Emory Homecoming and Reunion Weekend on Sept. 27-30 marks the return of alumni to campus to reconnect with former classmates, and rediscover the University.

The occasion will also mark the introduction of the Emory Alumni Association's new "I'm IN" identity, which encourages alumni to be "Inspired, Involved and Invested" in the Emory community and the University.

"There is something special about being IN the Emory community and we hope to share that message," says Gloria Grevas, Emory Alumni Association director of student and alumni programs.  "We will hand out buttons, fans and t-shirts with the new identity, and alumni and students will get different color t-shirts."

The activity-filled weekend features the fourth annual Spirit Day on Saturday, Sept. 29. The event features a campus walking tour, a parade on Asbury Circle, a tailgate party before the Eagles men's soccer team and wraps up Saturday night with reunion parties. Music this year is by Slightly Stoopid.

Homecoming also serves as an opportunity for former classmates to catch up at exclusive events, and alumni are encouraged to participate in Friday night mixers at local bars and restaurants.

"The mixers are a great opportunity to reconnect in an informal setting, and each reunion committee personalizes the experience for their classmates including outside entertainment," says Gabrielle Soria, program development coordinator at Emory College.
