Emory to require faculty and staff COVID-19 vaccinations for fall 2021
All Emory University faculty and staff members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for the fall semester, President Gregory L. Fenves announced today. All Emory students must also be vaccinated to return to in-person learning this fall.

Bonifield to join Emory provost’s leadership team after Andrechak’s retirement
Susan Bonifield will join Emory Provost Ravi V. Bellamkonda’s leadership team as senior vice provost for strategic financial and resource planning, following the retirement of Deputy Provost Michael Andrechak, who has led the administration and planning team since 2014.

HEALTH CARE
Emory tops U.S. News hospital rankings for metro Atlanta and Georgia
For the 10th year in a row, U.S. News and World Report has ranked Emory University Hospital the No. 1 hospital in Georgia and metro Atlanta in the regional rankings of U.S. News Best Hospitals. Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital ranked No. 2 in Georgia and metro Atlanta; Emory University Hospital Midtown ranked No. 5 in both regions.

 

SUSTAINABILITY
Campus gardens feed, educate and nourish the Emory community
Volunteers from across Emory plant, tend and harvest food in eight small gardens on the Atlanta campus. Their work makes food more accessible locally and reinforces Emory’s commitment to sustainability.

Pardue named interim chair of Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering
Professor and vision research scientist Machelle Pardue will take over as interim chair of the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory effective Aug. 16.

HISTORY
New digital learning hub marks Apollo 15 moon mission's 50th anniversary
Launched July 26, 1971, Apollo 15 was the fourth lunar landing mission and the first extended scientific exploration of the moon. A new learning hub created by the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship features primary source records and an interactive 3D model of the lunar module.
