Transit plan vote could propel light rail service to Clifton corridor
A proposal that would bring MARTA light rail service to Emory is among a broad package of projects slated for consideration this week when the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority approves its first regional transit plan.

Emory soil analysis project leads to EPA site investigation
An Emory collaboration with members of Atlanta’s Westside community, to test urban soil for contaminants, reveals elevated levels of lead, prompting a site investigation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

 

CREATIVITY
Emory launches new innovation space, The Hatchery; names director
Emory is launching The Hatchery, the university's newest space for student ideation and innovation. Shannon Clute has been named inaugural director of the center, which officially opens at Emory Point in January.

 

CAMPUS
Candler to welcome two new faculty for spring 2020 semester
The Candler School of Theology faculty will expand in January with the addition of Walter Earl Fluker and Kwok Pui Lan. Both have served Candler in other capacities during recent years.

IMPROVEMENT
Winship realigns research programs to increase impact
The National Cancer Institute has approved for Winship to realign programs funded by its NCI Cancer Center Support Grant. Changes will allow for more faculty collaboration and will include the creation of two new research programs focused on cancer immunology and cell/molecular biology.
