COMMUNITY Emory authors shine at the Decatur Book Festival Tens of thousands of book lovers will flock to Decatur over Labor Day weekend for the 2019 AJC Decatur Book Festival, presented by Emory. HONORS AAMC selects Rafi Ahmed for distinguished research award The Association of American Medical Colleges has honored Rafi Ahmed, director of the Emory Vaccine Center, with the 2019 Award for Distinguished Research in the Biomedical Sciences. SCIENCE Skeletal shapes are the key to recognizing objects A new study from Emory psychologists finds that while the outer shape of an object is important for rapid recognition, the object's inner "skeleton" may play an even more important role. IMPACT Migrant farm workers get free health screenings from Emory nursing students For two weeks each summer, a program led by Emory's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing provides vital health care to migrant farm workers and their children in southwest Georgia.
