Faculty, staff honored for teaching, mentoring and more
Faculty and staff were recognized with multiple awards at the 2018 school diploma ceremonies. See the honorees from each of the nine schools that make up Emory University.

 

AWARDS
Eleanor Main Graduate Awards honor exceptional mentors
Osric Forrest, who received his PhD during Emory's May 14 Commencement, and Patricia Bauer, Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Psychology, are this year's recipients of the prestigious Eleanor Main Graduate Mentor Awards.

 

ACHIEVEMENT
Bowman receives international Humboldt Research Award
Joel Bowman, Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Chemistry, has received the international Alexander von Humboldt Research Award in recognition of his lifetime achievements in research as well as his high potential for new discoveries.

INNOVATION
Emory cares for ICU patients remotely, turning 'night into day' from Australia
A partnership involving Emory Healthcare, Royal Perth Hospital in Australia and health technology company Philips will move night intensive care work in the Emory eICU Center into daylight hours, focusing on the globalization of critical care medicine.

 

WELLNESS
Emory employees walk more than one million miles for Move More Challenge
More than 5,400 Emory employees crossed the finish line of this year's Move More Challenge, walking more than one million miles and taking more than two billion total steps.

 

TEACHING
Chemistry students sing their studies, hoping for a good reaction
As part of Bill Wuest's "Principles of Reactivity" course, chemistry students performed key lessons they learned over the course of the semester in a musical parody video assignment. Wuest has compared exam performance before and after the video assignment and found a strong correlation to improved scores.

COMMUNITY
Staff Fest 2018 marks 40 years of celebrating Emory employees
Expect a 1970s vibe as Staff Fest, Emory's annual employee appreciation event, harkens back to its founding in 1978. Come out to the Quad on Friday to enjoy lunch, games, dancing, the Fun Run/Walk and the volleyball tournament.
