HISTORY Letters from a future president Barack Obama's letters to his college girlfriend, now part of the collection of Emory's Rose Library, reveal a young man grappling with his place in the world, wanting to make change but not yet sure how. DISCOVERY Research offers new insight into how brain cells die in Alzheimer's Removal of a regulatory gene called LSD1 in adult mice induces changes in gene activity that look unexpectedly like Alzheimer's disease, scientists have discovered. THEOLOGY Interfaith engagement events highlighted at Candler Two events at Candler School of Theology featuring Imam Abdullah Antepli will address the future of interfaith engagement in an increasingly diverse and politically polarized American society. THEATER Negro Ensemble Company's 50th anniversary to be celebrated at Emory Emory is one of three sites nationwide for a touring 50th anniversary celebration of the famed Negro Ensemble Company and its visionary co-founders: playwright Douglas Turner Ward, producer-actor Robert Hooks and theater manager Gerald Krone. COMMUNITY Campus Life Pavilion to be dedicated during Homecoming to black students who integrated Emory The Campus Life Pavilion, located at a former site of the Black Student Alliance House, incorporates elements from the previous structure and will be dedicated Oct. 20 in honor of African American students who integrated the university.
