NSF awards Emory's Center for Selective C-H Functionalization $20 million
The National Science Foundation has awarded another $20 million to Emory's Center for Selective C-H Functionalization to fund the next phase of a global effort to revolutionize the field of organic synthesis, with implications for drug discovery and the production of new materials for everything from agriculture to electronics.

 

IMPACT
Candler event series to explore moral injury, Oct. 12-14
Candler School of Theology will host four events on the concept of moral injury, the emotional and spiritual pain that can afflict soldiers and others who are asked to perform actions that run counter to their moral codes.

 

DISCOVERY
New digestive/liver disease gene identified by international team
Mutaz Sultan, a pediatrician at Mukassed Hospital in Jerusalem, and Paul Dawson, Emory professor of pediatrics, worked with geneticists in Israel to identify a new gene mutation affecting bile acid transport, a cause of congenital diarrhea and liver disease in children.

Healthy Emory's "Know Your Numbers" screenings, held at 85 onsite events at Emory Healthcare and Emory University earlier this year, provided more than 7,300 Emory employees with important information about their health and well-being. Learn more about the results.

Emory students host American Mock World Health Organization Conference
"Climate Change: The Global Health Response" will be the focus when more than 200 students from around the world gather at Emory for the fourth annual American Mock World Health Organization Conference, Oct.13-15.

The academic year is in full swing with a variety of events on and near Emory's campus. As the weather finally cools down, enjoy outdoor events including Jazz on the Green, soccer matches and the Open Streets Emory Village festival.
