COMMUNITY Staff Fest serves up food and fun for Emory employees Staff Fest, the annual celebration of Emory staff members, is set for Friday, May 12, from noon to 3 p.m. on the Quad. Come out to enjoy lunch, games, a climbing wall, dancing, the Fun Run-Walk and the volleyball tournament. HEALTH Emory Center for AIDS Research receives $10 million NIH renewal Emory's Center for AIDS Research will receive $10 million from the National Institutes of Health to further its work to decrease HIV incidence, improve the well-being of people with HIV, train the next generation of researchers and clinical leaders, and ultimately find a vaccine and cure. IMPACT McDaniels honored for African American Civil War-era exhibit Pellom McDaniels III, curator of African American collections at Emory's Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library, garners the Center for Research Libraries 2017 Primary Source Award for Research. HONORS Beinecke Scholarship will help Carnes study music across cultures The ear for music that made Emory College student Mallory Carnes an accomplished violist also gave her a gift for languages. As one of only 20 Beinecke Scholars selected this year, she plans to pursue a PhD in ethnomusicology. ACHIEVEMENT Mapping the future of the School of Medicine's Class of 2017 Using an interactive map, see the broad range of institutions that the graduating class from the School of Medicine were matched with this year for their medical residencies. AWARDS Faculty, staff recognized for teaching, mentoring and more Faculty and staff were honored with multiple awards at the 2017 school diploma ceremonies, including the Emory Williams Award for Distinguished Teaching.
