Emory students transform art into action to help area nonprofits
Now in its third year, Emory's "Art and Social Engagement" course unites students, Atlanta artists and area nonprofits. As students partner with community-based organizations, they create artwork that can influence pressing social issues.

Father, son improve hearing through cochlear implants
After Randy Adams saw his young son, who is completely deaf, receive a cochlear implant that replaces the function of his damaged inner ear, the 35-year-old was inspired to try the device himself.

 

LITERATURE
Colm Toibin to deliver 2017 Ellmann Lectures
Award-winning Irish writer Colm Toibin will deliver the next series of Emory's Richard Ellmann Lectures in Modern Literature, set for Nov. 12-14, 2017.

 

HISTORY
Student project examines first 100 days of Hitler's rule
Concerned that comparisons of today's political climate to Nazi Germany lacked context, German Studies students launched "100 Days of Fascist Germany," documenting the early days of Hitler's leadership.

 

SPORTS
Emory tennis teams win University Athletic Association championships
Emory's tennis teams swept the UAA championships, with the women's team claiming its fifth consecutive title and the men's team claiming its third.

 

ENGAGEMENT
Global Health Case Competition challenges U.S., international teams
Nearly 140 students from universities across the United States, as well as from Canada, Denmark and Australia, gathered in 24 teams at Emory to compete in the 7th annual International Emory Global Health Case Competition.

PROFILE
Emory senior helps minority high school students network into STEM research
After conducting award-winning research in high school, Alexa Dantzler founded Students Obtaining Atlanta Research (SOAR) her first year at Emory to encourage female students of color from economically disadvantaged neighborhoods to become STEM researchers.
