AWARDS Emory junior selected as 2017 Truman Scholar Chelsea Jackson, who has persistently advocated for a more equitable Emory campus and Atlanta community, is one of only 62 students around the country to be named a 2017 Harry S. Truman Scholar. HONORS Emory faculty elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences Neuroscientist Helen Mayberg and New Testament scholar Carl Holladay have been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious honorary societies and a leading center for independent policy research. TRANSPORTATION Commute alternatives can help ease traffic in wake of I-85 collapse As commuters continue to struggle with traffic congestion in the wake of the Interstate 85 bridge collapse, Emory is monitoring the situation and seeks to remind employees about alternative commute programs. COMMUNITY Wear denim April 19 to raise awareness of interpersonal violence Emory's annual Denim Day is Wednesday, April 19. Everyone in the Emory community is urged to wear denim to show support for survivors of sexual assault and the larger goal of ending interpersonal violence. ARTS Emory students excel at American College Dance Association conference Out of 46 entries from across the region, "She fell, but felt no fear" by Jessica Bertram and "Two in one" by Cherry Fung were among the 12 works selected for the prestigious ACDA South Conference. ACHIEVEMENT Undergraduate Research Week begins Monday at Emory Emory College's annual Undergraduate Research Week returns Monday, April 17, with a series of events to showcase students' work across a range of disciplines. The six-day event is free and open to the public.
