'Fictions of the Body' helps students see the humanity in health, medicine
An upper-level French class cross-listed with Human Health, Fictions of the Body explores different perspectives on illness, disease and even how the human body is seen during medical treatment.

Congress passes 21st Century Cures Act
The 21st Century Cures Act, passed by both houses of Congress with overwhelming bipartisan support, reflects an effort to expedite the discovery, development and delivery of new treatments and cures.

Faraaz Hossain honored with social justice award
Faraaz Hossain, an Emory junior who died this summer during a terror attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has been awarded the 2016 Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice.

Folger Library director praises Emory's First Folio programming, shares Shakespeare effect
Michael Witmore, director of the Folger Shakespeare Library, visited Emory this week to discuss "The Wonder of Will" and why Shakespeare's work still resonates today. The First Folio exhibit continues through Dec. 11.

Will the shifting political winds affect U.S. climate policy?
Emory seniors Emily Li and Jennie Sun were part of an Emory delegation to Marrakech, Morocco, in November for a U.N. Climate Change Conference. Shortly after the event began, Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election.

HEALTH
Emory experts strive to reduce sepsis deaths
More deadly than a heart attack, sepsis strikes more than 1 million Americans per year and is a leading cause of death in U.S. hospitals -- often because it is diagnosed too late. At Emory, new monitoring systems and education efforts are working to catch sepsis before it rages out of control.
