Acclaimed biomedical scientist, former Emory professor Ravi Bellamkonda named provost
Biomedical scientist Ravi Bellamkonda will return to Emory on July 1 as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. He previously held a joint appointment as a faculty member at Emory and Georgia Tech.

Emory’s Emergency Medicine residency program has received national recognition for its “innovation, commitment, thought leadership to create physician workforce diversity, and efforts to promote inclusivity.”

Emory launches new vaccination tracker as part of online health equity dashboard
Emory researchers are enhancing a dynamic COVID-19 Health Equity dashboard to shine a light on how U.S. states are progressing on vaccination. Reports indicate that Black Americans, who have been disproportionately impacted by the virus, are lagging behind in getting the vaccine.

Emory alum awarded Omicron Delta Kappa graduate scholarship
Emory College graduate Alex Greven has received a graduate scholarship from national leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa. He will apply the award toward completing his MBA at Goizueta Business School.

RESEARCH
NIH grant funds Emory work on indoor air sensor for SARS-CoV-2
Emory received a National Institutes of Health grant to develop a sensor capable of detecting SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, in the air of indoor spaces. The project will adapt technology developed by Emory graduate Kevin Yehl while he was a PhD student in Khalid Salaita's chemistry lab.
