CAMPUS
Admission team works to ‘get the Emory spirit into the virtual world’
Through "virtual visits," videos, social media and other online experiences, staff in Emory's Office of Undergraduate Admission built a strong foundation for engaging with prospective students and their families during the pandemic and beyond.

SUPPORT
Emory statement on federal government rescinding policy change affecting international students
Emory University is encouraged that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security rescinded the July 6 preliminary guidance, allowing our international students to continue their studies at Emory and remain important members of our community.

INSIGHT
Candler faculty help establish guide for eventual worship reopening safety
Faculty at Emory’s Candler School of Theology were integral to compiling a guide outlining how congregations can eventually move forward with in-person worship — but do so safely. The guide is available in both English and Spanish.

IMPACT
Vaccine additives can have implications for flu and SARS-CoV-2
An Emory Vaccine Center study provides guidance on how adjuvants might become part of a proposed “universal” flu vaccine and potentially optimize immune responses against SARS-CoV-2.

DISCOVERY
Beautyberry leaf extract restores drug's power to fight 'superbug'
Emory scientist Cassandra Quave, along with students and staff in her lab, discovered a compound in the leaves of a common shrub, the American beautyberry, that boosts an antibiotic’s activity against antibiotic-resistant staph bacteria.

RESEARCH
Early results show COVID-19 vaccine is safe, generates immune response
An investigational vaccine designed to protect against COVID-19 was generally well tolerated and resulted in production of both binding and neutralizing antibodies in healthy adult volunteers, according to early results of an ongoing phase 1 trial. Emory was one of two U.S. sites where the vaccine was tested.
