Transit plan vote could propel light rail service to Clifton corridor
A proposal that would bring MARTA light rail service to Emory is among a broad package of projects slated for consideration this week when the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority approves its first regional transit plan.

Emory soil analysis project leads to EPA site investigation
A project testing soils in Atlanta’s Westside community for contaminants found elevated levels of lead. The collaboration – initiated by a Rollins student – prompted investigation by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

New English faculty bring expertise in digital humanities
Professors Lauren Klein and Dan Sinykin are pioneers in the emerging field of applying quantitative methods to literary analysis. Their work uses computers to help spot patterns in massive amounts of literature, unearthing never-told stories.

Emory is launching The Hatchery, the university's newest space for student ideation and innovation. Shannon Clute has been named inaugural director of the center, which officially opens at Emory Point in January.

The Candler School of Theology faculty will expand in January with the addition of Walter Earl Fluker and Kwok Pui Lan. Both have served Candler in other capacities during recent years.

Emory psychologists explore acoustics of a primal human call: the scream
Screams are prompted by a variety of emotions, from surprise to terror. But no matter what sparks them, human screams share distinctive acoustic parameters that listeners are attuned to, suggests a new study from the lab of psychologist Harold Gouzoules.

EXPANSION
University breaks ground on innovative biomedical research facility
Emory broke ground on a state-of-the-art research facility that will focus on innovation, synergy and impact for biomedical research. Health Sciences Research Building II will be built on Haygood Drive beside its sister facility, Health Sciences Research Building I.
