CAMPUS Celebrate 'Swoop State' with Homecoming, Family Weekend events Show your school spirit with "Swoop State" events all week. Homecoming kicked off Monday and culminates Saturday with the annual parade and concert, this year featuring the Emory alum Kristian Bush of Sugarland. SUPPORT Emory releases results of student survey on sexual violence, harassment Increased student participation in Emory's second campus climate survey on sexual violence reflects awareness of and engagement with prevention training, as well as opportunities for additional support and education. CLASSROOM New TV writing course offers students path to collaboration and creativity With experience honed as a writer for NBC's 'The Blacklist' and shows on Netflix and BBC America, creative writing professor T Cooper guides students in the highly collaborative craft of writing TV scripts. ACTIVITIES Halloween at Emory brings a street party, movies and more Whether your Halloween tastes lean toward haunted houses with ghouls or cute puppies in costume, events on and around campus during the next week will help you get into the spirit. CONNECTIONS Study examines whether 'intellectual humility' can temper political, religious polarization With support from a Templeton Foundation grant, Emory psychologist Scott O. Lilienfeld will study whether the ability to recognize that you might be wrong can be a buffer against political and religious extremism. RESEARCH What's good for the heart is good for the brain Emory researchers are giving us double the reasons to pay attention to our cardiovascular health, showing in a recently published study that good heart health can equal good brain health. IMPACT Alumni create organization to reduce racialized health disparities Four Rollins School of Public Health graduates founded and run an organization dedicated to improving health in the black community.
