SPECIAL FEATURE Bonding over bones, stones and beads Emory anthropologist Jessica Thompson takes students into the field in Malawi to help uncover mysteries of prehistoric hunter-gatherers in Africa. The project has already yielded the oldest-known human DNA from Africa, preserved by the cool, arid ecosystem of the excavation sites. Meet the students conducting this groundbreaking research. SUCCESS 100 percent of Emory pre-law students admitted to top law schools in 2017 In 2017, 100 percent of Emory seniors who applied to law school were admitted, according to data from the Law School Admission Council. Graduating seniors and Emory alumni garnered 135 offers of admission from the nation's top 15 law schools. INSIGHT Their hearts are in Havana: Oxford students take a revolutionary trip to Cuba Students in the Spanish class "Evolution of Revolution" recently visited Cuba to learn about the country's history and culture directly from its citizens. IN CLASS Immigration policy course tackles complex questions of citizenship Students in the political science course "Law and Politics of Immigration" are grappling with serious questions surrounding this complicated topic — one that, for many in the class, has a direct impact on their own lives. OUTREACH Through Coursera, Emory faculty reach broad audiences around the world Coursera's online courses give people around the globe the chance to learn from Emory faculty about topics that highlight the university's commitment to helping humanity. Subjects include civil rights, understanding violence, examining addiction, responding to health emergencies, and more. BUSINESS Emory Entrepreneurship Summit provides business insights, keys to success Students, faculty, staff and the Atlanta community had the opportunity to dive into the world of entrepreneurship at the fourth-annual Emory Entrepreneurship Summit, hosted by Goizueta Business School in conjunction with Emory Entrepreneurship Ecosystem. SPORTS Emory to add women's golf as intercollegiate sport Emory will add women's golf to its list of varsity sports, beginning in the fall of 2019. The new team will bring the university's total to 19 athletic programs that compete at the NCAA Division III level. ACHIEVEMENT Six honors theses highlight Emory College physics Six seniors will graduate with honors in physics, having conducted rigorous research as expansive as hints of what happens around the universe's dying stars and as minute as the molecular mechanisms telling our cells what to do.
