Emory commemorates Homecoming this week with dozens of activities for students and alumni, culminating with Saturday's parade and concert featuring Smash Mouth.

Mitchell wins silver, bronze at 2016 Paralympic Games
Cassie Mitchell, an Emory alumna and research professor in biomedical engineering, brings home two medals from the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Emory leads two-day radiation response exercise at Emory University Hospital and Dobbins Air Reserve Base
A two-day, full-scale exercise tested Emory's capability as a Radiation Injury Treatment Network center in coordination with Dobbins Air Reserve Base and 15 other health care and government agencies.

INNOVATION
Lights, camera, action: Film crews get warm welcome at Emory
Emory has steadily courted the television and film industry, encouraging location scouts to choose the University as a set for their projects. For students, the chance to observe filmmaking firsthand provides a critical form of research.

Study links Chinese Elm trees with increased fall pollen counts in Atlanta
According to an Emory study on changing pollen trends in Atlanta, an increasing pollen count during fall may correspond with a growing presence of Chinese Elm trees.

 

RECOGNITION
Talk With Me Baby launches national toolkit at White House event
The Talk With Me Baby initiative launched a new national toolkit on Sept. 15 at the White House Summit on Behavioral Science Insights. The project aims to ensure that all children read on grade level by the end of third grade by increasing their vocabulary and conversation beginning in the womb.

Mike Bartell: Finding 'Ultimate' success on U.S. National Team
Emory sophomore Mike Bartell traveled to Poland over the summer to compete in the World Junior Ultimate Championship, helping the U.S. bring home the gold medal.
