Interfaith vigil remembers Emory students killed in Dhaka attack
An interfaith vigil held in Cannon Chapel today honored the lives of Abinta Kabir and Faraaz Hossain, two Emory students who were killed in the recent terrorist attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

 

PARTNERSHIP
Atlanta Hawks, Emory Healthcare break ground on sports medicine complex
The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club and Emory Healthcare recently broke ground on the Emory Sports Medicine Complex. The facility, which will become the Hawks' official practice site, is the first in the NBA to combine a training venue with an entire sports medicine center.

As Emory celebrated Tibet Week, Buddhist monks spent hours crafting an intricate sand mandala. On July 24, the Carlos Museum hosts a closing ceremony for the mandala, just one of the interesting things to do this month.

Art for all: Fahamu Pecou takes his painting to the people
Acclaimed artist and Emory PhD student Fahamu Pecou debuts the first of four large-scale public art installations he is creating for Atlanta MARTA stations.

 

RESEARCH
Emory scientists join NIH study of individuals infected with Zika virus
Emory is part of a new national study of people infected with Zika virus to better understand the virus and its host immune response. The research is expected to help inform development of future diagnostic tests and vaccines for the Zika virus.

Enjoy the lighter side of Shakespeare in 'A Goodly Commodity'
As Emory prepares for the November arrival of Shakespeare's First Folio from the Folger Library, Emory Libraries will exhibit "A Goodly Commodity: Shakespeare in Pop Culture" through Feb. 26.

INTERNATIONAL
Students explore Tibetan perspectives on mind-body connections
Two dozen undergraduate students spent five weeks studying with the Tibetan refugee community in India as part of Emory's unique Mind-Body Sciences Summer Abroad Program, which includes a private class with the Dalai Lama.
