LITERATURE Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Rita Dove comes to Emory Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and former U.S. Poet Laureate Rita Dove will give a free reading on campus Feb. 28 for the acclaimed Raymond Danowski Poetry Library Reading Series. Research Sociology professor lauded for theory on causes of crime Robert Agnew is the pioneer of General Strain Theory, one of the leading explanations of crime and its causes. Learn why he thinks climate change is the greatest threat to confront humanity. PROFILE MaKendra Umstead: A personal mission to study cancer Her mother's journey with breast cancer inspired MaKendra Umstead to pursue a PhD in cancer biology. Now a fifth-year student in Laney Graduate School, she focuses her research on processes that might lead to better cancer treatments.
